Dialogue is a creative expression of human conversation. A character’s dialogue is chosen and organized by the writer, but it must sound as authentic and spontaneous as real human conversation.

The “Dialogue” slideshow demonstrates effective practices for writing strong dialogue and includes a review of inner vs. outer dialogue. The slideshow includes multiple Let’s Write! activities enabling students to try out their own skills in writing believable dialogue.

Teacher Tip! Please preview the slideshow and educator guide before sharing with your students so you can determine which activities and exercises will best meet the needs of your class.
