Children’s literature has always been one of Barbara Scotto’s primary interests, and in her many years of teaching fifth and sixth grade at the Michael Driscoll School in Brookline, Massachusetts, her classroom was full of good conversation about books. Barbara received an MA in Children’s Literature from Simmons where she taught Methods for Teaching Reading and Language Arts in the Education Department for many years. One of the hallmarks of her course was the emphasis she placed on children’s literature and its importance in the reading life of young people. She is a Co-Director and Treasurer of Children’s Literature New England and has served on many children’s literature award committees. She currently chairs the ALSC/ALA Notable Children’s Recordings Committee and was recently the chair of the 2015 Boston Globe Hornbook Committee.
Barbara Scotto serves as Secretary of the NCBLA.
