Gregory Maguire

Gregory Maguire is the author of more than a dozen novels for children and, to date, five novels for adults, including WICKED, the basis of the Broadway musical of the same name. Formerly a professor of children's literature at Simmons College, he is a cofounder of the Foundation for Children's Books and of Children's Literature New England, Inc.; both advocacy groups were started to help focus attention on the significance of literature in the lives of children. Educated at SUNY and Tufts, Mr. Maguire holds a doctorate in English and American Literature. He is an occasional reviewer for the New York Times Book Review and has contributed essays, articles, and signal reviews for many journals.
